96-year-old Gerald White fought in WWII’s largest and costliest battle
Mechanicsburg, Pa. – West Shore Home®, one of the fastest growing home remodeling companies in the nation, has gifted U.S. Army veteran Gerald White of Columbia, S.C. with a new, safety enhanced walk-in shower. White lives independently and the new shower will make a significant difference in his day-to-day life.
White is one of the last surviving Americans who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. The battle took place from December 1944 to January 1945 in the Ardennes Forest between Belgium and Luxembourg. The brutal winter conditions along with the strong German offensive led to 75,000 U.S. casualties. It is considered the bloodiest battle of WWII.
White received multiple military accolades for his service including the WWII Victory Medal, Bronze Star and two Battle of the Bulge Medals.
Through its West Shore for Warriors initiative, West Shore Home is removing White’s cast iron tub and replacing it with a walk-in shower, including a teak shower seat, six-way magnetic handheld wand and grab bars and for safety.
